Boards of Review
Boards of Review occur when a boy is ready to advance to the next rank in scouting. In order for a board of review to occur, the boy needs to ask the Scoutmaster for a Scoutmaster review. Once the Scoutmaster review has successfully occurred, the boy needs to contact the advancement coordinator to request a copy of his records. This must be done at least one week prior to the next scheduled Board of Review date as scheduled on the calendar. The advancement coordinator will then contact committee members so that there will be at least three members available to review the boy's record and ask him questions about his advancement.
The boy should arrive in FULL uniform and with both his book and his record. The scoutmaster (or an assistant scoutmaster) will present him to the committee for review. The boy should be able to recite from memory the Oath, Law, Outdoor Code, Motto and Slogan. He should be prepared to discuss what he has found to be beneficial to his advancement since the last board and if there is anything that has been a problem, he should be prepared to discuss that as well. He should be prepared to discuss any merit badges that he has earned since last rank. If he is above First Class, he should be prepared to discuss his ideas and plans for Eagle Scout, if any. |
